Tamanna Henna

How to Use Henna: A Complete Beginner’s Guide

Henna has been used for centuries as a natural way to decorate the skin and condition the hair. Whether you’re applying it for a special occasion or for beauty care, using henna correctly ensures rich color and long-lasting results.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the proper way to use henna for both skin and hair.

🌿 What Is Henna?

Henna is a natural dye made from the leaves of the henna plant. It creates a temporary stain on the skin and is also widely used as a natural hair conditioner and colorant.

High-quality, natural henna gives a deep reddish-brown stain without damaging your skin or hair.

How to Use Henna for Hands & Body (Mehndi)

Step 1: Clean the Skin

Wash the area with soap and water. Make sure there is no oil, lotion, or dirt on the skin.

Step 2: Apply the Henna

Use a henna cone to apply your desired design. Let it dry naturally for 20–30 minutes.

Step 3: Let It Set

For best results, leave the henna paste on for at least 4–6 hours. The longer you keep it, the darker the stain will be.

Step 4: Remove the Paste

Gently scrape off the dried henna. Do not wash with water immediately. Avoid water for at least 8–10 hours.

Step 5: Let the Color Develop

The stain will appear light orange at first and darken over the next 24–48 hours.
